I needed this book years ago when I first became a caregiver. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing or what I needed to do. I was frustrated, tired and overwhelmed. The authors and contributors of this book have done something brilliant here. I have read more than a few caregiving books and none that lay it out for you with clear, simple suggestions. Absolutely everything will not pertain to your specific caregiving situation, but there is a wealth of information that will pertain to just about any given situation. Everything from organization, self-care, to traveling with your caree. Even after being a caregiver myself for 6 years now, there still were a multitude of things referenced in this book that I had no idea about and that I am going to start implementing. If you are a caregiver then you'll want to read this. If you know a caregiver then you'll want to buy this for them. It will be the most helpful thing you can purchase for yourself or someone you love.Product details

365 Caregiving Tips Practical Tips from Everyday Caregivers eBook Trish Hughes Kreis Richard Kreis Gincy Heins Pegi Foulkrod Kathy Lowrey Reviews
What I love about this book is that it encompasses every possible topic in caregiving while not being specific to any type of caregiver (e.g mother and child, adult child caring for parent, etc). I found the hints and tips to be incredibly used and I find myself referring to the authors' web site again and again. A must read for both beginner caregivers and those of us seasoned veterans who need some fresh advice and perspective.
I was asked by one of the authors if I would review the book. I am a caregiver for my daughter and have been for six years. I did skip a few sections that didn't apply to our caregiving situation. Overall, I thought the book was excellent. I highlighted a lot of numbers because I wanted to incorporate the idea or I wanted to be able to find it later quickly. I absolutely love the homemade saline solution recipe and will make this. I think any caregiver whether they are brand new or a veteran could benefit from the tips. I would highly recommend this book.
This book is a must for anyone who is 'in the trenches' giving care for another person.
While I am no longer an Alzheimer's caregiver, I can testify that these practical tips are the real deal.
The book is not written in prose format, rather in very practical list format. The table of contents makes it easy to go to whatever section you need pointers on, and then simply lists by number the practical suggestions that the authors have gleaned from their own experiences.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is, or is about to, become a caregiver.
I originally purchased a few copies of this book to send to some friends that had recently become caregivers. I read the book before gifting them to my friends. Never in a million years did I think I would ever become a caregiver, let alone TWICE. The first time I was thrust into the position was when my husband was in a motorcycle accident. We were out of town when it happened. He had some significant injuries and we were stuck in a hotel far from home for a few days until we could work out the logistics of getting home. I got a lot of useful information in the travel section. The second time was when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. We were completely blindsided by the diagnoses. My sister and I took care of her during her recovery. This book contained many useful suggestions and helped me get through some rough times with grace and humor. I HIGHLY recommend this book!
This little book is basically a list of very practical things that can help caregivers be more effective and efficient. It includes tips for self-care, respite, using hospice services and more. The tips are organized in 19 specific areas.
Some tips are just one sentence, like #58 - Carry a pair of earplugs for noisy environments if your caree is sensitive to loud sounds.
Others are rather long, like #194 - Assemble 2 brightly colored folders with copies of important documents. Keep one with the caree and one in the car (this tip also gives a long list of examples of things to put in it like copies of insurance cards, ID cards, Advance Directive, medication list, contact info, etc.)
I ordered the book from with free prime shipping. The morning it arrived I read it through in 45 minutes. As I read it, I thought of various people who could benefit from some of the tips. There are so many practical ideas that I'd never have thought of on my own. Learning from others is so much better than trying to figure it all out myself!
A lot of useful information.
Wonderful collection of suggestions for even the most seasoned caregivers. A must have!
